First Saturday #124 - Fastelavn Edition

DRESS UP at this 124th edition of First Saturday.

It's the season of Fastelavn - so of course we will be celebrating at First Saturday. Bring your best costume, go for a run and become the King or Queen of Fastelavn when we will “slå katten af tønden”.

We will also give a price for the best costume, so there is absolutely no reason not to show up and dress up!

Bring a friend, dress up and celebrate Fastelavn while running.

-----------Fastelavn is the Danish carnival.

At First Saturday we will celebrate by having the barrel to be knocked down. So once you finish your run, you will get the chance to know down the barrel.

Also, our very much biased running jury, led by the MRC President herself, will be appointing the best costume - and yes, there will be prices in different categories. We will launch categories later.

As always, we’ll have pace groups to suit everyone.

Arrive at 11 AM and pick the team that fits your pace:

Race Walking: 1-hour session, including instruction on different paces and techniques

-----------What is Fastelavn?Fastelavn is Denmark’s version of Carnival—where costumes, candy, and cream-filled pastries take center stage. Kids (and playful adults + runners) dress up, smash a wooden barrel (slå katten af tønden), and crown a kattekonge and katte-dronning based on who lands the final blows. Once a pre-Lenten tradition, today it's more about indulging in fastelavnsboller and, for the grown-ups, pairing them with a well-earned beer. Skål!

-----------RaceWalk with MRCWalking is our newest addition, combining exercise and socializing with MRC’s spirit! Join us for a one-hour RaceWalk session, including an introduction to race walking techniques. All levels are welcome, as long as you’re comfortable jogging 5 km at a regular pace without getting exhausted .

We love gathering at Warpigs and appreciate them hosting us month after month. To keep things smooth this Fastelavn, please store jackets and bags in the General’s Room, so the staff can focus on serving great beer!
