Chicago tour!

Having visited many countries across the world we know how long and boring a 9-hour plane ride to any city can be. Flying with SAS though completely change that perception, and when we boarded the plane in Copenhagen last week we knew that the 9-hours to Chicago would fly away and that beers in the sky would be great too.

The third Sierra Nevada Beer Camp event in Chicago on Saturday was the main reason for our trip and having already felt the love and support in San Francisco we were evenly excited to go to the Grand Ball Room at Navy Pier for a great celebration of beer. 

Friday ahead of the Beer Camp event we scheduled visits at numerous good friends in Chicago. First stop was at West Lakeview Liquors (WLV) where we ate pizza, talked beer, and enjoyed the awesome space that carry one of the finest selections of beer you can find in and around Chicago.

Second stop was at Villains in downtown Chicago where we hosted at tap takeover with a massive 30 Mikkeller beers pouring. Besides drinking a shit load of good beer we met a lot of nice people, among them a bunch from the Mikkeller Running Club Chicago chapter who welcomed us with Malört (weird Swedish bitter that the world needs to put and end too). 

We also managed to find our way to the Emporium Arcade where Three Floyds / Mikkeller was launching WarPigs beers for the first time in Chicago before heading home.

Saturday was all in the name of Sierra Nevada Beer Camp. We arrived early, checked in, got some food, and started pouring beers. Chicago is a city that know their beer and you could tell from the massive turnout during the day. We spoke to many friendly beer lovers and just like in San Francisco we felt very honoured by the massive support Chicago showed us. 

Sierra Nevada ran the whole shebang like real pros and we want to say thank you to all of them for making us feel welcome and setting up the show. Also, thanks to Garage Project, Surly Brewing, and Boneyard Beer who we shared the place with at the venue. Thanks for beer and for a great day!

Sunday we were lucky enough to be invited to see both the facilities at Three Floyds and 18th Street Brewing. We were treated real good and got the VIP treatment at both places. Thanks to Aaron at 3F for showing us around and to Ed at 18th Street for doing the same!

Chicago is one of those cities where you just gotta surrender and accept the fact that it is a fucking awesome place to be. We had such a good time everywhere we went and everyone was too nice. We will be back for sure!!!
